Can you answer this question – How much are you being paid in your pay line for mlm residual income success? It’s amazing to me, now, after becoming educated, that most distributors have no idea and do not know how it works. I used to be among you.

Does that mean that I know everything about my pay plan? Not everything, but at least I have a good idea about most of it.

The point is, that I know how many levels down I get paid in my organization. Do you? I get paid, well, unlimited levels. There is almost no breakage. Meaning, I don’t have to go wide to be paid deep. That’s not to say that if I go wider it doesn’t benefit me, it does. But pay doesn’t get cut off after a certain level.

Now, I have a friend who was with another company and ended up generating $250,000/month in volume and took home a check for about $2000.00. That should be criminal.

Why did she get so little? This awesome person, who just loved the products, saw the pay plan cut 9 times in 7 years. So at the end, most of her volume was generated outside her payline.

She had built that organization, trained it and then the company took away profits that were rightly hers. Definitely, it is not a 5 Pillars company – it lacks integrity. It changes the pay plan to benefit the company and screws the distributors.

Well, they lost my friend – she went to another company, which now has the benefit of her great talent and building capabilitiy. And you better believe she chose a 5 pillars company this time. She’s found a home for the rest of her life.

What’s a 5 pillars company? That’s a great question. I’ll go over that next time. It’s so important that we cannot teach it enough. I’ll give you a hint – it has something to do with integrity and management experience.

What do I mean by that?

When I was doing Arbonne International as a business, we learned to do the “Puppy Dog” method. It was all the rage in the company and what everyone was training. This entails buying the top of the line skin care product – 3 or 4 or more sets – to get them out into the field for testing. The theory is that once people tried it, they didn’t want to give it back and would purchase – just like people not wanting to give back a puppy. Unless, of course, you’re like me – I prefer cats and birds. Not together.

But in reality, those sets are too expensive for most people, so they’d be encouraged to join as a wholesale buyer to get the discount.

What behavior does this drive in the field? Recruit, recruit, recruit.

Would you really buy these products if there was not a business opportunity associated with it? Or alternatively, a wholesale opportunity?

Think about it. The discount is generally 35%. But if most people only buy as a wholesale buyer, for the basic consultant they would get only 4% on a wholesale buyer under them and nothing on their own orders. For the first step of management, now you would earn 8% on everyone under them down a certain level (won’t go into that here) and including their own orders. But you have to have a lot more people buying to make the money you’d make from a retail purchase. Of course, most people won’t pay retail.

Doesn’t that sound like a recruiting rather than a retailing behavior to you?

Anyway, back to my story. I tried the “Puppy Dog” on a young lady who wanted to do the business. She spent $1000 or so on 4 kits and I was ready to train her. But she was shy, didn’t know many people and I could never get her and her boyfriend to come to train. Eventually she changed her phone number and e-mail and I couldn’t reach her.

Deep in my heart I knew it was wrong to have recruited her this way. It was front-loading. It is contrary to my personality and certainly to hers. She did have good product, and hopefully used it or sold it or something. But I still feel terrible about what I did and cannot do it again.

I had to switch to a company that pays 20% to 40% on retail products. That also means that the retail price is the same as the wholesale price. That sounds better than 4% to 8% to 14% (for the next higher Arbonne management level). You can make more money on fewer people. It also means that I can retail and it is not necessary to recruit. Most people don’t want to sign up – just get their product.

The upshot is I was never meant to recruit. Do people join me? Sure, if they want to get bonuses and get some extra income and be trained and plugged into a system that is proven and works. Most people just want to be customers. Not only is that okay with a company like mine, it’s encouraged – the idea is to sell product,  to retail, not just to recruit.   With retail prices the same for everybody, it is a more level playing field.

The other benefit to being with a company like mine is that not only the retail customers tend to stay, but there is a higher retention rate for the business builders. What a concept! Retention.  Not having to find as many new people.

Do you want mlm residual income success – are you listening to hype? Are you tending to jump at any pre-launch, promise of big bucks right away, get in at the ground floor?  Maybe get in at the basement or sub-basement!

I wrote about this recently and have received a couple of comments saying that my article was interesting and then there was a link to a pre-launch.

The interesting thing about all these pre-launches is that they use the fear of loss as a method of enticing people in, i.e., you must get in now to get the big bucks.

Well, I ask again, why would you put money, sweat, tears, time into a company that isn’t proven – around for at least two years? Do you know the background of the people starting the company? Do they have a policies and procedures that will change, that are as long as a novel? Is the compensation plan going to change many times? Do they make deals?

Do you want to be in a company for a possible quick flash in the pan – maybe – or do you want to have long term residual income that will let you actually retire and not have to keep on working for the rest of your life, that will pay your children’s children?

There are so many scams out there – new ones every day. Check out MLM Watchdog.com. Google the company name or the head guru’s name and put [scam] next to it. Do your due diligence, protect yourself.

In my last blog article I went over mlm residual income success and pre-launch. I spoke about the perils of getting into a company too early. Well, you might ask, is there a point when it is too late to start for mlm residual income success?

The answer is yes.

When a company has been around many years and has been heard of by many people, it might be too late. If the big earners at the company already have market share, if the big growth has occurred already, if the compensation plan has been changed to the benefit of the company and the big earners and to the detriment of the new people, average part-time distributors, it might be too late.

Being older is not the fault of the company. Decimating the compensation plan is. The harder it is for the average part-time distributor to make any money, the more will go to the company and upline.

Always read your compensation plan. If you don’t understand yours, get help. Call me. If I can’t figure it, we have Mentoring for Free people who can.

Is your plan fair to you as well as the company? Are the hurdles too high? Are the qualifications too difficult?

I don’t know about you, but I work hard enough. Why work harder than necessary?

Why pitch your tent in a company where there is no solid foundation for you? YOU – not just the company. Why participate when the going it harder than it used to be with the same company?

Why did you join? Did you like the product? I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again.

Loving the product is not enough reason to join the company if you want to make money.

First things must be first. Read your Policies and Procedures. Even if you make money, can the flow be stopped at any time at the company’s discretion? It happens. Know what the P & P’s say.

Read and understand your compensation plan. Know how to work it.

Is your product value priced? If a competitor can sell something similar for a lower price, why should anyone buy from you? The top ingredients are within pennies of each other. So why is there a differential in price? Stay tuned for another article on breakage.

Before you join a company, read the MLM Watchdog. Google the company name with the word [scam] in brackets just as I wrote it.

MLM Residual Income Success and Pre-Launch

Do the words “MLM Residual Income Success” and “Pre-Launch” go together?

No, almost always they don’t.  But people get soooo excited about “pre-launch” from all the hype.  They think they must get in on the ground floor.  Does “fear of loss” resonate with anyone?

So, why doesn’t pre-launch equal success? Well, students of the 5 Pillars to Success know why. That call is usually the 3rd Saturday training call of the month by the Mentoring for Free group.

Pillar #2 is Timing in the industry, timing in the company.

Assuming that you’ve selected the right industry, preferably something that is consumable and bears reordering on a regular basis, so that you would receive regular income from those sales (you’ve done it right once!), the timing in the company is critical.

Why? Well, about 99% of the start-up companies don’t make it past 2 years. How would you like to put your blood, sweat, and tears – not to mention money – into a company that fails and disappears? That’s 2 years or sometimes a little longer – out of your life.

Just ask 5 Pillars author if he’d ever join a company before it was 2 years old. He’s actually in a 5 Pillars company so would never join another (and neither would I), but he waited 2 years first for the company to work out the problems, compensation plan and have a solid foundation first.

What happens when the company is just starting? Management doesn’t know if it’s going to work – they want to leverage your money before they are solid. Do you want to take that risk? They don’t have the compensation plan down – how many times do you want to see it changed – usually to the benefit of the company and the detriment of the distributor. How many “take-aways” will you tolerate? Would you even recognize them?

Also, when looking at a pre-launch, although I don’t know why you would want to (please look past the hype), do you know what the company management experience is? Have these people ever built a successful downline? Do they really care about the distributor? Do they have integrity? What’s in the Policies and Procedures? Do they even know how to spell MLM? (This is from Pillar #1)

So the question is: how do you spell mlm residual income success with Arbonne International products on Ebay?

The answer: IT DOES NOT SPELL SUCCESS.

I was looking on Ebay just now and saw 2940 entries of Arbonne International product sales.

What does this mean? It means that people who have purchased through Arbonne, probably as wholesale buyers, generally means at a 35% discount and other bonus prices, can’t sell it and have too much to use themselves.

The phrase for this is “garage qualified“.

How do I know this? I’ve been there myself, but have never sold on ebay, because it violates Arbonne policy.

How do people come to this?

They may have been front-loaded (The Puppy Dog campaign is one way this happens) and, because they are not the right personality for the Arbonne stairstep breakaway compensation plan, can’t do what they’ve been instructed to do and can’t sell the product – the price is too high for most people. So they try to recoup at least some of their out-go of money.

Or, people see the Arbonne dream (Arbonne is great at spinning this) of unlimited income and so they “buy” their position or buy the maintenance of a management position. They feel that they will be able to attract a downline just by having a position. Unfortunately, for the vast majority of people this doesn’t work and they are stuck with product and no organization to help with the volume of sales they have to maintain.

Or, their organization has worked faster than they and have “broken away”, promoting to higher positions, and that sales volume is lost.

Except for the last reason, I’ve been there.

The vast majority of people cannot make any money at Arbonne. Most people are wholesale buyers just to get the discount.

Don’t get me wrong, the products are great – I use them – and Arbonne is a great company.

You can check Ebay for the products of other companies, too.  In fact, before you join a company, always check Ebay to see if any of their products are up there for sale and how many there are.

It takes more than great products for you to make money. Arbonne’s compensation is the old-style stairstep breakaway plan and very difficult to work.

I don’t know why I should be surprised that so many people still do not read or know their company’s Policies and Procedures for mlm residual income success. I know better, now, but did not pay attention to them when I was with my former network marketing company. Although, I must say, I did read them.

They are your contract for how to do the business with the company. Would you purchase a house without reading the mortgage contract? A car without reading the lease agreement?

Millions, billions of dollars are spent in the network marketing, mlm industry. This is not play, folks, it’s serious business. Big business. It is, after all, network marketing. Yet, most network marketing, most mlm players treat it as play. They join people who also haven’t read the P & P’s with wide-eyed wonder. They go into debt, sometimes in a small way, sometimes in a huge way, without so much as a “how does this really work”.

The big mlm companies are very slick at creating the vision of the dream. Usually they do not have a workable plan or system an average, part-time networker can plug into and be successful with. Usually only the full-time, aggressive personalities actually succeed. They create the illusion that if they can succeed, anyone can. After all, they are no smarter than you.

The numbers of people who fail and go into debt or just quit tell otherwise. Many people believe in mlm recurring income success but cannot find a company and plan that they can work and have that success. How do you tell if a company is a good one to try? For a chance a network marketing success, read the Policies and Procedures. Do they say you have to have ongoing activities? – run away. Do they say they can terminate you at any time for any reason or for no reason, or, the new one, for cause? Run as fast as you can – you’ll never maintain residual, recurring income, no matter how hard or long you work if you want to actually retire.

Do you have a Policies and Procedures you cannot understand? Let me know and I’ll help you decipher it. Do not try to interpret them – they say what they say, written by lawyers for the protection of the company. I’d be glad to help you with any P & P’s you have.

If you cannot find them or they’re not available till after you join – run, run, run.

Are there any good companies out there? Sure. The trick is to find them.

MLM Residual Income Success – Anywhere You Go

I’m out here in the Tallahassee, FL area visiting my fiancee (sorry fellas!) working on creating mlm residual income success, and I do it anywhere I go. You can do it, too.

How do I do that? I just keep my eyes and ears open, wear any t-shirts, buttons hats, or use my products on the plane, in restaurants, stores, hotels, etc.

When people ask you about the button or products, you answer the question simply and then find out about them – those who ask.

Listen and observe carefully to find out what color personality they are, and then you know just how to talk to them. This is a great way of having them be attracted to you.

Of course, you have to move products to have network marketing success, but it is, in the end, a relationship business. People join those they know like and trust. What better way to instill trust by showing others that you know them, and can help them.
