At the end of the day, network marketing residual income success for the distributor is based on how the compensation plan works. Certainly, consistent action by the distributor is also involved, some skills are necessary, and teamwork is important. But it doesn’t matter how hard you work if your compensation plan is not set up in your favor.

I’m not speaking here about what’s good for the company, but what is good for the distributor, without whom the company does not make any sales.

As you may have read from previous entries, I tried to do the business of Arbonne International. I love the products and still use many of them. But I cannot be successful with the compensation plan.

Now, I am not going to describe the various comp. plans here. For that I recommend you take a look at Deana’s excellent article on those.

However, I will tell you that Arbonne International uses a Stairstep Breakaway model compensation plan. Since the company is over 25 years old, that was the model to use at the time. Easier plans have come along.

After years of struggling, spending money on training, tools, and far away conferences to acquire new skills, I got that uh-oh feeling that I now understand as “red”, aggressive, salesy behavior that is so contrary to my personality. In fact, during one of the last trips I made with my Regional V.P. the most important discovery I made was while riding in the taxi with her and another RVP back to the airport:

After all the people they had in their organizations and the years they had put into the business, their monthly income was only about $4,000 and $3,000 respectively.

That was the final piece of information I needed to convince me I was in the wrong business. I didn’t know what to do until Mentoring for Free came along.

I will explain next time more about what the Stairstep Breakaway model means in practical terms. For now, the easy way to determine how a compensation plan works is this: Ask your upline how many people in your organization on a regular ordering program it takes to make $10,000/month in walk-away residual income. Do not include up-front bonuses. And how many legs do you need to have?

In my company it takes less than 400. How many in yours?

You can do the same for smaller amounts, say $500/month. In mine – approximately 25.

So, how hard do you have to work for network marketing success? As an average, part-time distributor with Arbonne International, can you do it?  If you can, stick with it.

I invite you to join in on the Mentoring for Free calls – generic training calls – to learn more about compensation plans, how to evaluate a company, and the personality colors to success technology. Call me or e-mail me for information.

Many companies coincide the beginning of the year with a new product or service in addition to any that have been introduced during the year, if any. So let’s review what it means to be a “product of the product’ for mlm residual income success. This, of course, also applies to products and services that have been in place all along.

DO YOU USE IT?

Using the product or service yourself has a direct impact on belief in the product and your own believability in marketing it. Unless you can do an academy award performance, or in my case, a Tony award performance, people can see right through you and know whether or not you are sincere. So, it is important for you to be sincere and believable in our testimonials about the product. A testimonial is merely a story about your results from your experience with the product.

WHAT IF I DON’T HAVE A TESTIMONIAL?

In the event that you are new to the business or perhaps don’t have the money to obtain the new product or service or if you cannot use it for some reason, it is okay to borrow stories/testimonials from your upline or other members of the company, and even from your clients. Again, these need to be believable. These stories must also be realistic so that your prospects are not set up for what they would perceive as failure. Very often third party testimonials that you relay or are relayed by that party are more powerful than any you might offer. It’s like an endorsement.

SUMMARY

Your success in network marketing can depend on your success using the products or services that you market. Prospects and also downline personnel get excited when you are genuinely excited about your or someone else’s results. Remember, people intuitively know if you’re faking it or not.

Here’s to your mlm residual income success –

Network Marketing and the Phlegmatic

I hope you enjoy the information from my friend Monica Karge on the “yellow” personality. This can help you with your mlm residual income success.

Network Marketing is a Relationship Business.

Doesn’t it make sense to know people?

How to spot a person’s personality within 2 min

People fall asleep when we say “phlegmatic, sanguine, melancholy and choleric”. But we understand colors. So a Phlegmatic personality is yellow, Sanguine is blue, Melancholy is green and Choleric is red.

“The YELLOW‘s” Who are they?

They are the introvert, shy relaxed person who is content and kind. They are peaceful, gentle, friendly and are a good listeners. They live a consistent life, care about people and are supportive of others. Because of their calm, easy going and low key personality they can function quite well in a hostile social setting. Nothing “ruffles their feathers.” They are calm, cool and collected. Yellows make up 35% of population. They are nurtures and give from their heart. They don’t have time for themselves, because they give to everybody!

How to talk to a Yellow

Become a yellow. Slow the pace. Contain your excitement. Lower the volume. Yellow see excitement as hype, you trying to sell them. Don’t tell a Yellow about making $10,000 a month, because they’ll turn right off. Yellows do not want to be sold. They don’t like pushy, aggressive salespeople. Instead, visit with them. Skip the business. Talk about their family, their kids, their vacation. The yellow are slow in making decisions and perhaps overcautious in minor matters.

Why you want Yellows in Network marketing.

Yellows have built some of the largest organizations on network marketing…WHEN they have the belief they can do it. Yellows are competent and steady. The have administrative ability and work well under pressure. They strive for peace and avoid conflict. They are easy to get along with and have many friends and are pleasant and enjoyable to be around.

Motto: Let’s be FRIENDS!
Occupation: Teacher, Nurse, Counselor, UN workers, Administrators and Diplomats
Voice: Soft and Gentle
Strengths: Dependable, Team player, Patient, Supportive and Nurturing
Weakness: Over- sensitive, Followers, Not Goal Oriented
Key Words: Team, Together, Relationship, Family
Dislikes: Pushy people, Bullies, Conflict

Examples of Yellows
Kevin Costner Mel Gibson
Grace Kelly Marilyn Monroe
Walt Disney

Network Marketing Success: Know Your Colors

In your quest for mlm residual income, I hope you enjoy this info on the BLUE personality by my good friend Nabil.

For your network marketing success, you need to understand some basics about human beings. Remember network marketing is not a sales business, it is a relationship business. Unfortunately, most network marketing companies training fail to teach those basics, and they leave their distributors struggling.

First, you must understand yourself, and your patterns of thinking.
Second, for network marketing prospecting success, especially long distance, you must be able to spot your prospect pattern of thinking and find his ‘hot buttons’.
Third, you must understand that your prospects patterns of thinking may be completely different than yours.

Your network marketing success depends on understanding the four major personality types. You need to speak your prospect language and not yours. You can discover your prospect personality by listening and asking the right questions.

What turns you on may be turning your prospect off! Stop doing that…

For example, let’s talk about the ‘blues’

They make 15% of the population, they are the open and direct.
They talk too much, they volunteer more information than what you ask for.
They like to have fun, they see the big picture, and they don’t like details and numbers.
They have difficulty focusing on one task, you may think they have a ADHD.
There are more ‘blues’ in network marketing than any other personalities.

If you are a ‘blue’, you need to learn to shut your mouth, stop interrupting your prospect, you must learn to listen, and you must learn to focus on your tasks.

When you sponsor a ‘blue’, you need to teach him how to listen and how to focus in order to succeed in network marketing.

When you prospect a ‘blue’, let him talk, tell him about the trip you won and the fun you had with your network marketing team. Do not give him details.
Make sure you follow-up closely with him. Send him short and sweet E-mails.
If you dare to send him long detailed E-mails or a boring long detailed presentation, he will block your E-mail, he will make sure he screens his phone calls.

Try sending me a long E-mail, and your E-mails are in my junk file next time. Oops, you know what color I am.

If this scenario seems familiar to youthoughtful network marketer, now you know why. Join us to learn how to spot your prospect personality in two minutes with the best network marketing success training.

Network Marketing and the Choleric – RED

NETWORK MARKETING AND THE CHOLERIC – “REDS”
You have entered the Network Marketing World and joined a company you have always wanted to work with. You have learned some of the skills needed to make a success in your new business. Policies and Procedures along with Compensation plans you understand. But you are failing to recruit anyone to work with you. You feel you are not connecting with them. Why? Let’s look at one possibility.

COLORS TO SUCCESS

There are four basic colors to success. We used to call them “Phlegmatic” being YELLOW, “Sanguine” is now BLUE, “Melancholy is GREEN and last Choleric is RED. Understanding these color personalities, their strong points, their weak traits and how to approach them is something we need to know. We need to become a chameleon. We need to LISTEN to be able to pick up on their personalities within a couple sentences of talking to them. Let’s talk about the REDS.

CHARACTERISTICS OF “REDS”

Reds are the most difficult to deal with if you cannot keep in step with them. They are controllers, difficult to coach, bossy, impatient, but confident to the point of egotism. Our world could not exist with out Reds. They are the CEO’s, the money mungers (they want all of it), they are driven and love control. They are proud of their achievements and let you know often. When they have a plan there is nothing that will detour them. They do not need or care if they have friends or as a matter of fact if you are their friend. These people are great in business and are born sales people, however they are not team players. They work better alone. They love expensive designer clothes and think everyone should dress like them.

HOW TO DEAL WITH A RED

They are self starters, dynamic, and well connected (referrals), organized, driven, and confident. If you have them in your business you need to know how to stroke their ego, challenge them. They love to be motivated at the highest level. To have these people on your team you need to be prepared to play on their level and if you are not a Red this will be your biggest challenge. They will leave dead bodies all over the place unless you have control at all times.

CONCLUSION OF REDS

To have this “get out of my way” person on your team can be most profitable for not only them but your company. Again, be the Boss always on an on-going basis. Give them a plan built especially for Reds like the stair-step break away Compensation plan, then leave them alone. Sometimes a Red will think they have a more efficent way of doing a task and they will tell you so. But, if your plans are proven, and are replicable, let them know in no uncertain terms there will be no changing. You are the boss. This is the time you want to stoke their ego. To keep Reds working you will need to do this. Keep ahead of them in their manipulative ways.

There will be many times when you ask yourself why you let a RED on your team. Just remember, if you are prepared with a plan of action just for them, and keep them motivated, you will have no problems. If not, you will be the one who will be turning in your resignation! So, think intelligently before hiring a Red!

Motto: Get out of my way.
Occupation: CEO, Attorney, Airline Pilot
Voice: Forceful, with authority and volume
Strengths: Focused, Goal Oriented, very Intense
Weakness: Ego, Short tempered, Domineering, Impatient, Un-teachable
Key Words: MONEY, Power, Control
Dislikes: Indecision, Chit-chat, losing control, don’t like talking about Family

Examples of Reds:
Bill Gates John Wayne
Mark Twain Thomas Edison
Margaret Thatcher Napoleon Bonaparte

Last time I said that I would take a look at the compensation plan of Arbonne International and how it drives behavior in the field for network marketing success. I’m going to put that off for a while, because while I was looking through the sign-up documents I saw the one I want to point out to you. I’ll make this short and sweet – regarding being terminated for no reason.

When you sign up, one section of the agreement states, and I am copying it exactly as it appears today May 13, 2006:

I understand that I have the right to terminate this Agreement at any time, with or without reason. I understand that such termination must be in writing. I understand and agree that Arbonne may terminate this Agreement at any time, with or without reason, upon written notice to me.

I just cut and pasted the above right from the agreement online.

Now, I read that as agreeing to the fact that the Arbonne International can terminate this agreement to be an independent consultant whenever and for whatever or no reason at all.

I think that’s clear enough.

Would they do it – especially when you start really earning a lot (remember, not too many people can do that)? Hopefully not.  Most companies do not intend to use that clause but have been known to do so when they get into a money pinch.

Have consultants been terminated? I have heard that some have, but have no knowledge of the reasons and cannot verify that.

Even so, you might ask yourself why that statement would be in there if there was no intention ever to use it?

Do all companies have that statement in their agreements or policies and procedures? No. But most of them do.

I don’t know about you, but I prefer a company that does not have that written anywhere. And I found one, so I know it’s possible. I want a company that will allow me to retire and will be around to pay my children and my children’s children – even if they do not wish to keep building!

Please do not leave Arbonne International if you like to use their products. But if you have a dream of having network marketing success and Arbonne will not fulfill that, don’t wait until you have put a lot of money on the table and still are not successful.

Please join Mentoring for Free for skills training calls and learn information on how to choose a network marketing company. These calls are free. They are helping a lot of people. I invite you to be one of them and not be among those who have been and can be terminated for no reason.

Color Me Green for MLM Residual Income Success

SUCCESS – in your quest for mlm residual income success and in general life relationships – is often a result of our knowing how to communicate with people. There are 4 basic personality types. Each one requires a particular approach when listening to and communicating with that person. Would you like to determine in a very short time to which personality you are speaking so that you have a better chance of network marketing success?

These personality types are GREEN (Melancholy), BLUE (Sanguine), YELLOW (Phlegmatic), and RED (Choleric). MLM residual income success can be greatly increased by understanding the differences.

Let’s zero in on the GREEN. They make up 35% of the population. What is the make-up of a GREEN personality and how does knowing this increase mlm residual income success?

This is the person who is analytical and tends to be a perfectionist. The GREEN is orderly, precise, deliberate, controlled, serious, consistent, thorough, and efficient. AT WORK the GREEN is neat, tidy, organized, makes lists and charts. The GREEN personality likes all the facts, sees problems and solutions.

What are the NEGATIVE attributes of the GREEN? They think they’re the smartest people on the planet. They are skeptical, hard to please, rigid, pessimistic – they want all the facts. The GREEN personality has difficulty making decisions. They want to be right and accurate. They get depressed and over-analyze everything. They want to be perfect. They have difficulty building relationships, which can diminish their chance of having network marketing success.

For the GREEN to be successful in network marketing he or she must learn to be a chameleon, must understand the different color personalities, learn to recognize them and how to speak and interact with them in their own color mode.

For example, another GREEN can be spotted as one who drives a safe car and stays within the speed limit. The GREEN is conservative and formal in dress, speaks slowly and deliberately, enunciates the words. Self-contained and indirect is the general personality style of the GREEN, who tends to refrain from outward demonstrations of feelings, and must work hard to show affection on a more regular basis. The GREEN personality will not volunteer information about his or her family and will answer questions that are asked but tend not to elaborate.

WHY would you want a GREEN personality in your business? The GREEN will follow the system in place and understand how it works. The best thing you can do is to move them into action through coaching and mentoring so that they can have mlm residual income success.

HOW do you attract a GREEN to your business for network marketing success? Just give them all the facts. They will look at ALL the information and make their own decision – you must never try to SELL them.

Motto: Let’s get the facts and the figures.
Occupation: Engineer, accountant, CPA, Professor, Mathematician
Voice: Soft and correct.
Strengths: Organized, dependable, accurate, problem solvers, detail-oriented, follow through.
Dislikes: Being late, not having all the facts, aggressive and pushy people.
Weaknesses: Hard to please and over analyze everything, pessimistic.

Examples of GREENS:
Queen Elizabeth II George Bush
Colin Powell Mother Teresa
Barbara Walters
