Defeating Your Gremlin for Network Marketing Success

The Gremlin is that scared voice inside you desiring the status quo, wanting to avoid change. It can be a powerful and persistent voice inside you keeping you from succeeding in building your network marketing residual income.

The Gremlin boils down to fear of the unknown or lack of clarity of how to do something, or thinking “what if I fail?” Or even, “what if I succeed!”

It is important to figure out what it is that getting beyong your Gremlin will get you. You design the blank slate. What have you always wanted to do?

The Gremlin is the mental blocks, many of which are around your beliefs. You may believe that people will make fun of you, leave your business, not join your business.

Beliefs are the made-up rules than run our lives. If you take out the “f” you are left with “be-lies“. These are the untruths that keep us from being at our best. We build expectations and our lives around our be-lies. How about if we change that and build our lives around our truths!

So how do we do that? One way is to write your “be-lie” on a piece of paper and then write your new truth. Carry it around with you everywhere and read it three times a day.

Why not write your “be-lies” a Dear John letter. For example:

Thank you for supporting me all these years. I no longer need you. I’m letting you go. What’s true for me now is (your new truth).

Sounds hokey? But what if it works! This is another way of training your subconscious by replacing the untruth with the truth.

Another thing you can do is write down your “be-lie” and burn it, or cast it away in a body of water, or even flush it away.

Do you ever find yourself telling yourself that you should be stronger, you shouldn’t be so needy, you’re not ready…? Or perhaps you tell yourself that “they” won’t like it if I do…, I don’t have what they’re looking for, nobody will listen to me, I need to think more, I have nothing to offer anyone.

In the coaching world you have just met the Gremlin. Actually, the Gremlin has been around all our lives. Sometimes the Gremlin controls us to a greater or lesser extent. Often we just let him do that.

The Gremlin is scared most of the time. He does not like change. He will ridicule you for wanting change. Getting out of your comfort zone is threatening to the Gremlin. The Gremlin is the name for whatever is blocking you, whatever is holding you back.

How do we defeat our own Gremlin? First by being aware of her. When you get that feeling that you are reluctant to do something you know will help you create mlm residual income success, it’s likely your Gremlin rearing her ugly head.

One strategy is to name your Gremlin. For instance, if you called your Gremlin “Shirley” that name does not sound as powerful as “THE GREMLIN”. It does not sound so big and scary, but more friendly, less powerful. Do you want to let “Shirley” have power over you? When you don’t want to do something, ask yourself if it is YOU talking or SHIRLEY talking.

Will we ever get rid of our own Shirley? Probably not, but we can control her. Please look for more strategies on controlling your Gremlin next time. Until then –

Core Values and MLM Residual Income

Are your core values in alignment with your goals? If they are not, it is much more difficult to have mlm residual income success.

What are your core values? Those are things that are important to you, such as freedom, nature, peace, service to others, beauty, simplicity, honesty, loyalty, etc. There are many core values that people have. Often it is difficult to identify them. And your values can certainly be different from my or anyone else’s.

As a professional health coach, one way I help my clients discover their primary values is to describe a time in their life that was wonderful. Then I listen for the values that come out of the narrative. I then help them see if their goals are in alignment with these values. For example, if, as a leader, you will be doing a lot of speaking engagements that depend on a great deal of travel, but one of your main values is to spend a lot of time with your family, then they are out of alignment. In this case, perhaps you will need to change the number or the type of speaking engagements to which you commit. Otherwise, the disconnect will keep you from being balanced and may interfere with network marketing success.

Headlines for Network Marketing Success

We all know that headlines are designed to attract attention, right? It’s the same for mlm residual income success. How so?

In a newspaper or magazine do you read all the articles? Probably not, unless you have nothing else to do. If you want to be successful in network marketing so that you can build your residual income you will likely confine your reading to just the articles that have headlines that grab your attention. When you do newsletters, flyers, e-zines, or articles, the headline can be the difference between people deciding to look at your information or not.

But did you ever consider that a headline could also be the first line out of your mouth in a live presentation? Are you able to focus very much on a presentation where the first line is the run-of-the-mill or the same-old-same-old words you’ve heard a million times? Do you listen closely to a demonstration that starts out plain and boring?

One of my mentors teaches that if the “headline” at a presentation is interesting, exciting, and attention grabbing, it almost doesn’t matter what the rest of the presentation is.

A Is For ABUNDANCE in MLM Residual Income Success

Do you have an Abundance mindset or a Scarcity mindset? What’s the difference and who cares?

Well, we all should care, especially if we desire mlm residual income. Why? Because abundance means quality of life to be experienced now, not later when we retire and are too tired. Abundance means enough, love, easy to get. This is a state of being.

And what about the opposite concept, Scarcity? This, too, is a state of being – of perceived not having enough, abundance is not plentiful, things are hard to get.

Which state of being do you prefer? You have control over which state of being you are in for network marketing success and for life. If you are in a state of scarcity how do you change to one of abundance? It takes work. It takes being grateful. It takes reprogramming your subconscious. We’ve heard this before.

One exercise that has worked for a lot of people is an ABUNDANCE NOTEBOOK. Every day write ten things that you are grateful for and ten things for which you acknowledge yourself.

You can be grateful for anything – the smallest thing, such as the sunrise, a loved one, a pet, being able to get up in the morning, having a car, being able to brush your teeth, the Super Bowl, etc. You get the idea!

You can acknowledge that you did get up in the morning, that you did brush your teeth, that you ate a healthy food, that you exercised, that you put the dishes away, that you made a phone call for network marketing success. Anything you did, no matter how small, counts. Any positive thoughts or creative ideas also count. You are infinitely creative and whole. You can do this.

It is said that it takes 21 days to create a habit. I challenge you to do an Abundance Notebook for at least 21 days. Develop the habit and see how your Scarcity thinking changes to Abundance and you Abundance thinking gets stronger.
